New chapters in life bring challenges.
From time to time, everybody struggles with things in life. If you are experiencing a life transition, you are more susceptible to emotional stress.
Moving away to start college, the break-up of a serious relationship, getting married, having a child, problems with children, getting divorced, a family member dying, and getting diagnosed with a serious illness represent many possible transitional events that you may experience in a lifetime.
Your struggle is real.
Every person has a breaking point. You may have been able to deal with a lot before, but then one little thing was the proverbial “straw that broke the camel’s back.”
Up until this point, maybe you had experienced a fairly stress-free life. No matter the type of event or circumstance you now face, the reason you are seeking therapy is because of your being stuck in an ongoing, difficult situation.
Don’t ever think you are weak simply because other people are dealing with “bigger” problems!
Everyone experiences difficult situations.
Every person goes through difficult times in their lives. Having someone to talk to during these challenging times is incredibly helpful.
I am an expert at listening to people and helping them figure out the best way to handle their situation through life transition therapy. Talking with an objective, calm outsider is an especially grounding experience.
But I don’t even know where to start!
That is perfectly okay. I have developed the skill of unraveling the details of a person’s story.
There is no one best place to start with life transition therapy. Start your story wherever you are, and I will help by leading you with questions about your situation.
As we start to gain a fuller picture of what is going on in your life, it may become clear that what you had believed was the problem is only a symptom of the problem.
The real issue may be easier (or harder!) to resolve than you had originally thought.
There is no one right answer.
Do you know the expression, “There is more than one way to skin a cat?” Well, there also is more than one way to solve any problem or issue.
You will discover that I am not going to give you the answer during life transition therapy. I don’t have the answer for you. As I see it, that is not my job. My job is to help you find the answer for yourself.
